Finding a career path that makes us feel satisfied and successful is certainly not easy. It’s not something that we are taught to do at school and taking that first step towards a career can be quite a daunting task, especially for those who are unsure of where their passion lies or what they value most.

When we are happy at work, life is good.
When we are unhappy at work it negatively impacts all other aspects of our life.
More than 70% of workers report that they don’t feel happy about their career choices. The question is why? The answer is complex, but one thing we do know is that too many people choose their career based on the opinions and expectations of others. Put more bluntly, people choose their careers to impress others, to feel respected and validated by others and to avoid being poorly judged, in the process, however, they unfortunately lose sight of their own needs and desires.

Skills West Careers Expo is Western Australia’s leading, largest and most attended careers & employment event that enables visitors to explore tertiary and VET course options, find traineeships, apprenticeships, plan new career pathways and find employment.
It offers a ‘Try a skill’ zone where you get a chance to try your hand at different activities and find out from the experts about a host of career options, together with hands on workshops covering topics such as ‘How to create a winning resume’.
Skills West Careers Expo is Free for all visitors to attend and will be held on 17 – 19 August, 2018 at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. The event attracts over 8,000 students, graduates and career changers across the three days.
